Capital IT Solutions and Computacenter plc announce new
alliance
Companies
to provide leading-edge global IT Infrastructure solutions
and services to multinational customers
London,
October 25, 2001 - GE Capital IT Solutions and Computacenter
plc, two recognised European IT service providers, today announce
the intention to create a new strategic alliance to provide
IT infrastructure solutions and services to multinational
companies.
The
intended strategic alliance will enable both companies to
meet the growing demand from globally operating companies
for multi-country IT solutions through the following offerings:
- Systems
integration services, especially focusing on the design
and deployment of large-scale, global IT infrastructures
- Managed
IT services covering IT infrastructure operations, administration
and user support
- Provision
of configured technology from leading manufacturers, including
desktops, servers, storage and networking products
Computacenter
and GE Capital IT Solutions will transition existing international
partnerships where possible into the strategic alliance to
provide coverage in up to 50 countries across the globe by
the end of the year.
Furthermore,
to improve the capability to deliver service through the two
firm's alliance, in the three largest European countries,
GE Capital IT Solutions and Computacenter propose under separate
individual agreements:

In the UK, Computacenter would acquire GE Capital IT Solutions
operations;
- In
France, Computacenter would acquire GE Capital IT Solutions
service operations;
- In
Germany, GE Capital IT Solutions would acquire the operations
of Computacenter.
These
proposals are subject to the appropriate employee consultation
and regulatory approval in each country.
Outside
these three countries, the operations will remain unaffected.
Computacenter will continue to provide direct coverage in
Belgium and Luxembourg, and GE Capital IT Solutions in Austria,
Spain and Portugal. The Nordic countries and North America
will be served through existing Computacenter alliance partners
and GE Capital IT Solutions businesses.
